The Poet’s Athletics Club, Inc. (Poet’s A.C.) is a community based non-profit organization that has been in existence for over 25 years and has held a 501(c)(3) (#D-0278176) since 2001. The Poet’s Athletic Club was created by members of the Alumni of Dunbar High school in order to provide community programs for the students of Dunbar High, Cecil Elementary, and Harford Height Middle as well as members of the surrounding community. The Poet’s A. C. realized the foundation that many members could provide to students in the surrounding community, based on their experience in the business and educational world; they developed an organizational plan to provide financial, academic, economic, and social support to the public.

• The objectives of the Poet’s A.C. include:
• Goals and missions to reach out to the community to assist and enable all citizens to become productive members of the community.
• Provide training for the unemployed, disadvantaged, and Public Sector Funding Recipients.
• Provide an after-school mentoring program to make available internet access, educational resources, in-house tutoring program, and safe haven for social activity.

The purpose of this organization is the dedication to the advancement of adolescents in an educational and athletic capacity, the promotion of civic responsibilities through the community, and the unification of adolescents through the true spirit of athletics and brotherhood. Financing for the organization is supported through annual membership dues, the Owl’s Nest-Club House, Social ventures, and grants.
